Just imagine Donald Trump in the Oval Office facing a real crisis. We
can’t afford that kind of risk.

Now of course Trump supporters will ask what could Trump have done?
Well, Miles Taylor (former DHS chief of staff in Trump administration)
said it in his Washington Post opinion piece;
"The president’s bungled response to the coronavirus pandemic is the
ultimate example. In his cavalier disregard for the seriousness of the
threat, Trump failed to make effective use of the federal crisis
response system painstakingly built after 9/11. Years of DHS planning
for a pandemic threat have been largely wasted. Meanwhile, more than
165,000 Americans have died."

(Washington Post article by Miles Taylor)
People always die.
Covid-19, if it exists, and I believe it does exist, kills those
who are weak and would die soon any way.
Weak excuse for unnecessary deaths.
USA has around 4% of world population but around 22% of world Covid deaths.
And around 24% of worldwide Covid cases...let's not forget how having
even a mild Covid fucks up your blood vessels, brain & lungs.
american covid rate has little to do with trump, our society isn't
built like yours and our people aren't like yours.
the governors had every chance to curb this early, and didn't. they
were worried about their elections too.
When the BLM protests started, Trump advised governors to “deploy the
National Guard in sufficient numbers that we dominate the streets”.
got to protect the innocent.
Exactly. Which has more innocent victims, the bug or the legal protests.
Post by bobPost by Pelle SvanslösWhen the bug hit the streets, Trump could of
could have
Post by Pelle Svanslösadvised governors to lock
their states down.
they could have advised it on their own.
Post by Pelle SvanslösHe could of sprinkled that advice with a grain of
national emergency salt and a couple of "incentives". Trump had reports
early on what the threat was going to be like.
But you know where the priorities are.
the gov't at state and federal level both knew a voluntary economic
collapse was not the preference in an election yr, coupled with a
virus nobody knew much about.
That was wishful thinking. We knew that then, we know it now. The
rationale for the lockdowns was always: lock it down, or the bug locks
you down.
If the boss says, against his better knowledge, that it's "one man
coming in from China", the rest will be equally cavalier. Trump uses the
bully pulpit selectively.
Post by bobso everybody handled it poorly, in hindsight. including many euros.
Many Euros had a steep spike. Some handled it extremely poorly
initially, but got to their senses very quickly. Correcting own mistakes
isn't the Apprentice way.
trump said wear masks.
Wowski.
The comparison is striking. Trump was willing to put the ducks in line
on BLM, but he certainly would not have done anything in the WLM case.
He certainly did nothing of the sort WRT the bug.
It's a question of priorities. A minor issue, but big in base
binoculars, gets undivided attention, sods dying doesn't.
And stupidity. The US economy would already be recovering like it is in
other places if Trump had bullied the right people for once.
Post by bobtrump said social distance. but he was behind
the curve like most world leaders,
Most other leaders were behind the curve because of honest uncertainty
about what they were facing. Even our universally acclaimed left-centre
government was wobbly at first. Then they put the unconstitutional boots on.
Trump early on knew what was coming, chose to talk it down. Didn't work.
When that failed, he still tried to liberate states that were actually
doing something.
In the meantime, the bug was spreading. Bad Trump.
Post by boband many state leaders. in handling
the virus i'd grade him a "C" while deblasio/cuomo get D-. maybe
newsome gets a B+. the guy in wyoming gets an A, and guess what: he
never did a single thing for lockdown!
Those guys share sure responsibility. Sure.
Post by bobso explain why the strong republican and trump supporting states are
way down the list in death rate for covid? you cannot.
This is too ludicrous to touch. Probably easily explained by points of
entry, population densities, demographics, wealth, etc.
Post by bobbecause it's
not a trump thing, it's a people thing: people do what they want when
and where they want as long as they don't get arrested or beaten up
like india.
Compare Sweden with its neighbours. It's not a "leave it up to the
people" thing.
Post by bobi have an auntie, far far left leaner, despises trump. detests him.
despises desantis too. she never distanced, broke laws for 3 months to
get services done daily like nails/hair on black mkt, wears masks
around her chin rather than nose/mouth, went out daily to eat despite
friends of hers who didn't leave house for 3 months.
Ha ha. The lawless, commie aunt again. How's Sheela doing?
