:)))

We know the real reason why tik tok is "dangerous"... it disturbs the US
social media hegemony & ad dollars.

Biden administration has been nothing but criminal with their China
propaganda & trade war.

They even made a law which allows them to fund media propaganda against
China's belt & road initiatives worldwide.

https://responsiblestatecraft.org/china-cold-war-2669160202/

That's pure evil.

Another remarkable issue is US sanctioning advanced 5nm chip sales to
China because "military reasons". This means that Taiwanese TSMC can't
sell its chips 10 km distance to China. Also Dutch ASML can't sell their
most advanced lithography machines to China.
...Meanwhile for example American Qualcomm has been getting permits to
sell 5nm chips to Chinese Xiaomi phones. Chips produced by ASML's
machines in Taiwan...

Also meanwhile US is designing/manufacturing AI controlled drone swarms.
Also, the excuse about military reasons doesn't really hold water, it's
not like you need a 5nm chip for a drone... phone more like. It's about
phone (chip) sales & technology competition.

Yet US is losing the chip war...
https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/tech-news-xiaomi-launch-self-developed-3nm-soc-chip-2025-gishc

This is in due to sanctions, US has forced China to innovate. The losers
in this mess are in the end Taiwanese TSMC & especially dutch ASML.

is fatal." - Henry Kissinger

I can see his point, and I would guess that all other major vendors can
do this, too.

So the reason TikTok is singled out is because it's Chinese owned. And
this is because we can trust Zuckerberg, but not the Chinese.

We can trust neither, but I don't think Zuckerberg is a threat as much as the Chinese.

They are threats in different areas. I less comfortable having
Zuckerberg's company tapping my personal wifi system, and less
comfortable with the potential for China to winnow out international
espionage.

Reading back where I wrote that "we can trust Zuckerberg, but not the
Chinese", I meant that facetiously. Neither party is trustworthy.

Sure, but I wouldn't want Chinese companies doing it either. Maybe even moreso.

Which is why I'd be more concerned about the Chinese. The Chinese government has a lot of control over their
companies, and the Chinese government is quite nasty. I don't buy that American tech companies are on a par
with them.

I trust Apple 100%. That's why I gave them my credit card number. And
because I couldn't access the FREE iCloud otherwise.
I also trust Google, youtube, Twitter, Microsoft etc not to give all my
internet history & personal information to NSA. I wish.

Zuckerberg seems like a very trustworthy character though, for a liquid
based lifeform from Gamma Quadrant.

Hah!

Well, then I can see that you're tuned-in, right thinking guy, TT. So
then you--like me--completely believe Snopes and all the other fact
checker sites, too...

You nailed it on the head! Apple, Meta, Google, Microsoft, etc. are
based in the USA, so they are allowed to do EU illegal data sharing and
the lobbied members of the USA government smile and put the $$ in their
pockets...

I never follow links to fucking TikTok.

People, wake up! China is one of the worst shithole
countries in existence. It is a real stinker to
be sure! Do some research about this horrible country.

I feel like a fucking shitty hypocrite because I have
a fucking Lenovo laptop... :-(

Apart from that, I never purchase Chinese products!

Pisses me off when people send me web links to any social web-sight via
text or email. I always ignore and delete the link. No need for that
cookie tracking shit on my devices...

lol, you guys are something :)

I hope you both used a VPN on Mars before posting here otherwise everything can be tracked back to you. Oh wait, Musk owns the Mars VPN :)

So tell me Scall5 what exactly happens when you click on a link for a TikTok video?
Maybe I am missing something.

Kalevi can help.

Let's start a decent discussion.

Unauthorized cookies for starters. Can be downhill from there.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Scall, but you see this real issue that it is
*unauthorized* and often not clearly explained, if at all.

It could, in fact, be beneficial, but unless it is both clearly
identified and defined, and authorized by *you*, it is an unwanted
library that they're taking with your computer activity.

How close was I to being right? :^)

Pretty much I'm in the same boat, but too lazy to do anything about
it--which is precising what data-mining companies count on.

It's trivial to evade such "tracking mechanisms" on random social
media links, and I'm sure if you care about it so much you know
that too. Frankly this sounds like another of your faux
libertarian virtue signaling routines.

Btw do you think all your posts here aren't trackable to you and that they can't be used to build a profile for you?

Maybe you are one of those people that don't use credit cards for payment and always pay in cash?

Also, I am sure you will never use any navigation software :)

I am just highlighting a few of these channels that collect data about you.
You can't escape this data collection if you really want to live a normal life.
