Musk is like a bright but annoying kid. He may be amusing at first, but
the more you see of him...

It wears out pretty fast.

He does appear to me to be susceptible to manipulation by subtler, more
clever folks. Maybe by Trump.

Here's a weird observation I made after reading and considering things
that both Ramaswamy and Musk seem to be saying (can't really trust
reportage without a check of some kind).

Both of these guys are certifiable narcissistic dickheads, but even
dickheads such as them are preferable to another round of woke.

Sorry-ass shit...

Happy New Year, Pete!

Least not we forget, how do those with money create their riches? By
outfoxing everyone else to give them their money. Fair or not, that is
the way human hierarchy has been since the "six cradles of
civilization"; if not before then.

I see your general point, Scall, but you've phrased it as if it's
overtly predatory and that a major goal of this acquisition is to humble
and humiliate others. There's a big segment of people with significant
wealth who are mainly looking only to acquire assets--collect them, use
them to acquire more--and these types don't take pleasure in
gratuitously hurting others.

There *are* those who *do* enjoy this Conan the Barbarian rush of
conquest, but I just wanted to point out that it would be inaccurate to
portray everyone with significant money as of this type.

It's hard enough to do, and the avenues are few and narrow, so what
happens is that you don't *want* to think about possible unintended
pain, so you don't.

Not necessarily, he's probably high on Emperor-in-waiting Trump's
hit list once he gains unfettered power on 1/20. I mean, there's
no room for a second cult leader who's richer and smarter than
himself!

It's interesting that you see this. I see it as a distinct possibility, too.

Trump draws a lot of lightning from media, etc. He has installed two
lightning rods: Musk and Ramaswamy, to take some of the hits, I think.
  I mean, there's no room
for a second cult leader who's richer and smarter than himself!
Yes, and I think Trump can hurt Musk more than the other way around.

Look at it this way: Trump is, undercurrent law, in his last
presidential term. He's either going to abide by the law, will attempt
to get the law changed (this is the constitution, so I doubt he could do
it), or he'll try to stay on in some unlawful way.

Unlike his first term, when he thought he could be re-elected, and
moderated some of his positions, somewhat, under no circumstance I
outlined above, does he need to moderate anything, at all. He can swing
for the fence on every pitch.

"Be afraid. Be very afraid...". :^)

I think the left is making different types of noises that are meant to whisper into Trump's ears that Musk is the real ruler, and the goal of these noises is to achieve exactly what you have described.

Probably, but that's just a shove in the right direction, he would
come to this conclusion himself eventually. As unpredictable as
Trump can be, his paranoid narcissitic traits are completely
predictable.

imo, Elon is really setting a wicked bear trap for himself with
his behavior. You know, I'm sure he's very intelligent in many
ways but utterly socially inept (unlike Trump). You can see it on
full display daily with his terse and inarticulate X posts, and
the "interview" he did with Trump (95% "uh huh, uh huh", "yeah
yeah") during the campaign.

How long will it take for Musk to morph from "super genius" to "dumb as
a rock"...
